Like ReplyRavnen23, You are correct that we are the male protagonist not a female one. With that said, there are women who have the name Michael like in the Star Trek TV show called Star Trek: Discovery whose name is Michael Burnham.
Like Replywilltrekkie, the producers of Discovery openly stated they gave the character Michael a male name and said she was named after her father. The female name is Micheal, which is an alternative spelling of Michelle.
