Ok, so there is a way past the dark crystal quest softlock... but only if you do some prep beforehand. BEFORE talking to the principal to get approval, run around the available areas and solve the side quests of the red flames: one of them gives you a fast travel spell that is the only way out of the balefire aftermath.
Like ReplyThough, it does come with the side effect of permanently adding a layer to the music as the region's ambience doesn't have a loop end at the same time as the side quest end...
Like Replygame starts getting pretty buggy during the dark crystal quest. After getting the keys to the lab, the next goal of "talk to (specific minion)" doesn't trigger, getting to the bottom of the corresponding dungeon shows a falling cutscene but nothing else, so the only progress is to skip a few steps and talk to the new ally in the central courtyard to trigger the next set of objectives...
Like ReplyAt which point the game works... until you escape the maze and get trapped behind the school in a single tile of fire, softlocking you into "behind the school" "ruined dungeon" and a singular tile of the over world. It wouldn't be an issue with a "warp back to home" item, which would also solve a similar bug of going back out the gate behind adam's house after it is already repaired.
Like ReplyWell, I don't know what did it, but coming back later, I am able to play the quest properly... just to still softlock at the same point behind the school.
