I spared some time to actually download the game and play it. For those who got stuck in messaging Ayanokoji, it seems to be a browser/website issue only, so you've got no luck playing this at all right now until an update fixes it somehow.

Yes, the game will make you play chess as a core part of the story. Unexpected, to say the least, but the real issue if you want to go for certain routes is Ayanokoji - he literally plays like Stockfish. Goodluck "fairly" beating him even with your own engine.
